An action movie starring Benedict Cumberbatch about a Doctor that suffers a serious injury and goes to Katmandu looking for a cure. He learns about multiverses and gets in the middle of the fight between the Ancient one and the dark dimension.
Fantasy in the Marvel universe.
Magicians encounter super heroes in the end which points to a sequel (with Thor and Loki).
I wanted to watch Snowden but they didn't had the lunch session today so I have to decide quickly.

Florence Foster Jenkins
Based on a true story, this is a movie about Madam Florence, a patron of the arts and a wanna be singer without any talent. But no one can tell her that she is unable to sing.
Meryl Streep, Hugh Grant and Simon Helberg (from the Big Bang Theory) play their roles beautifully.

Open House 2016 Lisbon
Every year there is a weekend in Lisbon where cultural sites, museums and art and architecture related places are open to visits for free.
This year this weekend happened on the 2nd and 3rd July.
I was lucky enough to visit some of the places and it wasn't that crowded. Maybe I chose the right time.
I went to the Ismaili Center near Av. Lusíada in the Laranjeiras area. It is a very peaceful and beautiful building with a nice garden. It is an oasis in the middle of the confusion of a big city. It was designed by an Indian architect that was inspired by his home country, by Mosteiro dos Jerónimos and by Alhambra in Granada. The Ismaili Center is the place of prayer of the Ismaili community. They are muslin. They believe in a single God (Ala) and that Maometh was the last prophet. He then passed the interpretation of the Koran to Ali and ever since, there have been someone that interprets the Koran to the times we live. Thus Ismaili are Shia.
After this visit I went to the Thalia Theater. It belonged to Conde de Farrobo. It was his private theater.
I also went to Caleidóscopio, in Campo Grande, Casa do Alentejo (Portas de Santo Antão) and Cemitério dos Prazeres.
It was a very nice weekend.

World of Warcraft movie
A must see for everyone that loves World of Warcraft. I saw this in the movies with M. He is a big fan.
Monsters University
Not one of my favourite Pixar movies, but a nice entertainment.
Monsters Inc was far better!
I saw it on the TV.
Finding Dory
Another great movie from Pixar starring Dory, a fish that has memory problems and that tries to find his family.
Very good!

Money monster
A great movie about a TV show that advises people on investments. One viewer followed the advice and lost his entire savings. He goes to the show determined to understand what is happened to his money. The explanation that is was a "glitch" in the computer algorithm is not enough and it is not true.
Great performance by George Clooney, Julia Roverts and Jack O'Connel.

Time Out of Mind
A movie starring Richard Gere as a homeless in New York. He has a daughter but she doesn't care a lot about him.
It is sad and it depicts how invisible homeless people can be.

GOD
I don't usually go to the theater but I saw this play with Joaquim Monchique and I thought it was going to be funny.
He impersonates God and he presents the new 10 commandments.
Jokes apart it has a great final message about the protection of our Earth.
Minuscule
A very nice animation about an insecure lady bug that helps an ant colony defeat the red ants' army.

Snowpiercer
The movie sets in an alternative future where people are condemn to live on a train. Outside everything is frozen.
The poor people in the back of the train plan a revolution to reach its front and take control of the train. They see the different wagons and the different privileges other occupants have.

The Big Short
A movie about the 2008 crisis. It explains what happened, who lost and who won in a crude but funny way. Inspired by true events.
Chef Bourdain explains that a CDO (Collaterized Debt Obligation) is like a stew made with seafood that didn't sell the day before. "It's not old fish. It's a whole new thing".
The movie is nominated for best picture and for best supporting actor (Christian Bale).

Qu'est-ce qu'on a fait au Bon Dieu?
A very funny french movie about a catholic and conservative couple that has fours daughters, one of them married with a jew, another with a muslin, the third with a chinese and the forth is dating a black man. At least he is catholic! But the family has to deal with his family and with a lot of prejudice and clichés.
TED
This is a movie about a man and his politically incorrect Teddy bear, TED.
Overall, I thought it was a bit stupid. There were two or three gags.
Not my type of movie though.

Joy
A movie about the woman that invented the miracle mop, a plastic mop with a washable head that can be easily wrung out with getting the user's hands wet. First it was a flop, but she managed to sell it in QVC and it made a huge success. She had to struggle with another company about patents and rights but she ended up winning.
An inspiring movie about the power of women.

Star Wars - Episode VII
I enjoyed it very much! It reminded me of episode IV.
If you are looking for a bit of action and if you are a Star Wars fan, don't miss it. I think you won't be disappointed!
It has a good plot and in the end you will have more questions than answers.

Holiday movies
This holiday season I watched a lot of movies with my sister and by myself. These were:
- The good dinosaur - I saw it first in the theatre and now with my sister
- The Martian
- Coherence
- Everest
- Documentary about Edward Snowden
- Home
- Mad Max road of fury
- The One I love
By myself I watched:
- Pátio das Cantigas - remake
- Hungry games - Catching fire
I really enjoyed The Good Dinosaur. The story is great. The human behaves like the dinosaur's pet and it is really lovely. So I didn't mind watching it again.
The Martian stars Matt Damon. He is left in Mars and he starts growing his own food. It's a nice movie, but science fiction for now.
Coherence is a strange movie. A group of friends has dinner at home of one of them and suddenly they are interrupted by strange noises. When they leave the house to figure out what is going on they return to different universes of that same house.
Everest is about the mountain climb that took place in 1996. Several people died and the saddest thing is that their bodies remain there. I didn't know how difficult it was to reach the top of the mountain. After watching the movie I don't think I will try it...
Home is an animation with an alien called Oh. His species invades Earth and moves all humans to Australia. A little girl is searching for her mother and Oh helps her. It is funny, but Oh reminds me too much of Sheldon Cooper from The Big Bang Theory. His voice is from Jim Parsons, one of the main characters of that sitcom.
Mad Max is a movie from the creative mind of George Miller. It sets in a completely different universe. Charlize Thereon is a dissident that drives a truck with women that want to be free. Tom Hardy is a blood bag, a prisoner that is kept alive for blood transfusions. Their paths cross at some point. An action movie full of visual effects.
Finally, The One I loved is about a couple that consults a therapist and goes to a house to try to solve their issues. This is a very special place where people resembling them live.
