The World Press Photo is an independent, non-profit organization that every year organizes a press contest. The winning photos travel to several countries, including Portugal. The exhibition was until the 25th May in Lisbon in the Museum of Electricity.
It reminds us of what happened in the last year in the World: the Boston marathon bombing, the typhoon in Haiyan in the Philippines, Siria.
This winning photograph shows african immigrants trying to catch the sign of a cheaper cell-phone operator based in Somalia.
This photo was taken by Elena Chernyshova. It is from Norilsk, one of the ten most polluted cities in the World. Norilsk is situated in the North of Russia, in the Arctic, and was a soviet Gulag until 1956. The thaw of permafrost has been causing a lot of problems in the city.
